JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean is the sixth part of the series and it is the continuation of the previous series, Golden Wind. The story revolves around Jolyne Cujoh, daughter of Jotaro Kujo (Stardust Crusaders), who is sent to prison for murder and must face off against a former follower of DIO. The Stone Ocean arc ran between 1999 to 2003 consisting of 17 volumes (64-80).

The manga is written by Hirohiko Araki and began serialization in the Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on January 1, 1987. In 2005, the manga was moved to Ultra Jump. Currently, the eighth part of the series, JoJolion, is ongoing since 2011.

Netflix describes the series:

Florida, U.S.A, 2011 After an accident while on a drive with her sweetheart, Jolyne Cujoh falls into a trap and is sentenced to fifteen years. She is sent to the state-run maximum-security correctional facility Green Dolphin Street Prison—AKA “the Aquarium.” On the verge of despair, she receives a pendant from her father that causes a mysterious power to awaken inside of her. “There are things in this world that are more terrifying than death, and what’s happening in this prison is definitely one of them.” A message from a mysterious boy who appears before Jolyne, inexplicable events that occur one after another, the horrifying truth told to her by her father when he comes to visit, and the name DIO… Will Jolyne ultimately be set free from this stone ocean they call a prison? The final battle to end century-long fateful confrontations between the Joestar family and DIO begins!

TV anime season 1 premiered on October 6, 2012, which consisted of Part 1: Phantom Blood and Part 2: Battle Tendency. David Production has produced all the TV anime seasons. The anime is available on Crunchyroll and VIZ Media.

The film has also been licensed by Viz Media. Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan (Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai), Araki’s spinoff manga, has also inspired OVAs and a live-action miniseries. On February 18, Netflix started streaming anime internationally. In Japan, the live-action mini-series debuted in December.
