Attack on Titan Manga Certified by Guinness for Largest Comic Book

Attack on Titan manga, large-sized limited-edition printing of 1st 2 chapters, has been formally certified by Guinness World Records as the largest comic book ever published.

As of April 13, the record is held by Kodansha, the publisher of Attack on Titan. The books are one meter tall and 70 centimeters high. The books are 7 times the size of a normal tankо̄bon. They weigh 13.7 kilograms (30.2 pounds) each.

The large scale edition were created to promote the release of 34th and final volume of the series. Kodansha will ship the final volume will ship on June 9.

As the limited-edition printing of the manga’s first two chapters went on sale on March 6, all 100 copies officially sold out in two minutes. Every copy costs 165,000 yen ($1,540 or ₹1,12,128).

Turma da Mônica, a Brazilian comic produced by Mauricio de Sousa Produções and published by Panini Brasil, held the previous record. The books had a surface area of 6,976.02 cm² (7 ft² 73.28 in²)

After 11 and a half years of serialisation, Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan manga ended on April 9 in the May issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine.
