On Thursday, Square Enix and Kodansha revealed Gate of Nightmares, a new mobile role-playing game with character designs and world-building by Hiro Mashima, the author of Fairy Tail and Edens Zero manga. The game will be available on iOS and Android, but Square Enix has yet to announce a release date.
The game is a classic fantasy game set in both the real world and Lemurias. Lemurias is a parallel world where people’s dreams merge and become real. Nightmares are monstrous beings born from people’s terror and suffering. The story starts with the encounter of Emma and Azel, a young girl and a young boy. Emma is a Nightwalker that has been taught to fight with Nightmares. Azel is a young boy who seems to attract Nightmares.
Azel will be voiced by Yuya Hirose, and Emma will be voiced by Lynn and Atsumi Tanezaki will potray Meruru. Natsuki Hanae and Hiroki Yasumoto are among the cast members who have yet to receive a role in the game. The game’s scenario is being written by Jin Fujisawa, who has worked on several games of Square Enix’s long-running Dragon Quest RPG series. Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail) will compose the music.
Square Enix will host a “test edition hands-on event” prior to the official launch of the service, where players will be able to play the game in a development environment.
