KLab Inc., a Japanese game developer company and Dobala Games, a Chinese game developer company, revealed on Monday that they are working on a mobile game based on ZUN’s Touhou franchise. The game’s Simplified Chinese title is 弾幕幻想 (Danmu Huanxiang). On Monday, pre-registrations for the game started in China. The English title will be revealed at a later date by KLab. The game will be released worldwide, according to the company.
In China, Gave Game is releasing the game on Android, while 37Online is releasing it on iOS. The game will be a side-scrolling shooter in which players will be able to upgrade their characters and use projectile barrages to defeat opponents, according to KLab.
The company describes the story:
The game story begins when the peace in Gensokyo is once again disturbed. A strange magical presence is invading Gensokyo and causing the yokai to go berserk and destroy everything. The girls must set out on a journey to discover the heart of this disturbance and save Gensokyo from disaster.
The Touhou Project, or simply Touhou, is a bullet hell shoot ’em up video game series developed by Team Shanghai Alice, a one-man Japanese doujin soft developer. Jun’ya “ZUN” Ōta, a member of the staff, has independently produced scripting, graphics, fiction, and music for the series since 1995, self-publishing 17 mainline titles and five spin-offs as of August 2019. ZUN has also worked with producer Twilight Frontier on six official Touhou fighting games, as well as associated print works and music collections.
Twilight Frontier’s Touhou Hyibana: Antinomy Of Common Flowers two-versus-two tag battle game, which was released on Thursday for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, is the most recent English release for a Touhou franchise game. On May 11, Good Smile Company and NextNinja will announce the Touhou LostWord smartphone RPG in 80 countries other than Japan. Touhou Kōryūdō: Unconnected Marketeers, the 18th game in the main series, will be released in May. On March 21, ZUN debuted a demo at the “Hakurei Jinja Reitaisai” event.
