On Thursday, Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine revealed that Netflix will release the Baki Hanma anime (Season 3) globally this fall.
Baki Hanma will be the third Baki series on Netflix and it will cover the Hanma Baki – Son of Ogre manga arc (2005-2012).
To commemorate the manga’s 30th anniversary which will take place in September, the magazine also announced the launch of a new “30th Anniversary Project” website. The website opened with a “Fan Art Contest” where users can submit art, cosplay, videos, or original manga on Twitter by August 31.

The story finally unfolds into a full-blooded clash between Baki Hanma and his father, Yujiro Hanma, who is known as the “strongest creature on earth.” The climax of the Baki universe, which depicted the “strongest parent-child brawl in history of the world” in the original manga, has been adapted into the long-awaited anime!
Manga
Keisuke Itagaki launched the action-packed martial arts manga Grappler Baki in October 1991 under Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine. The manga is currently ongoing with its fifth series/arc called “Baki Dou”. Other series/arc are as follows:
1. Grappler Baki (1991 to 1999, 42 volumes)
2. Baki (1999 to 2005, 31 volumes)
3. Baki Hanma (2005 to 2012, 37 volumes)
4. Baki-Dou (2014 to 2018, 22 volumes)
5. Baki Dou (2018 to Present, 8 volumes)
Anime
An anime adaption of Grappler Baki manga series ran between January 8, 2001 to December 24, 2001, consisting of 48 episodes. The anime was directed by Hitoshi Nanba and Katsuyoshi Yatabe at studio Group TAC.
On December 2016, “Most Evil Death Row Convicts” or “Baki” arc was announced. The anime titled “Baki” was released on Netflix and ran for 24 episodes which was directed by Toshiki Hirano at studio TMS Entertainment.
Netflix renewed the series for a second season which covered the “Great Chinese Challenge” arc. TMS Entertainment returned to animate the series.
