Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Will Return On August 2

Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine’s official Twitter account revealed on Friday that Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga will return in the 35th issue, which will be released on August 2. 

Jujutsu Kaisen manga went on hiatus to Akutami’s poor health on June 21. It was announced then that the hiatus will be for a month and Gege Akutami also stated that the illness is not serious and that he is still mentally healthy.

Manga

Gege Akutami launched the manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018. As of June 4, 2021, 16 volumes of the manga have been published. Viz Media publishes the manga in English.

Anime

An anime adaption of the Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga aired from October 3, 2020 to March 27, 2021. Sunghoo Park directed the show at studio MAPPA. The show is available on Crunchyroll in English subtitles and VIZ Media released the series in home video. Medialink licensed the series for Southeast Asia. On June 3, Netflix began airing the show in Southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Movie

Jujutsu Kaisen anime film was announced after the finale of the TV anime this Friday, March 26, 2021. The film is titled Gekijō-ban Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (Jujutsu Kaisen 0 the Movie). The movie is slated for release this winter in Japan. The film will be animated by MAPPA and distributed by TOHO.

The film is based on Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Tokyo Toritsu Jujutsu Kōtō Senmon Gakkō (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School) manga was released as a 4-part series in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA from April 28, 2017 to July 28, 2017.

Synopsis

Viz Media publishes the manga in English and it describes the story:
In a world where demons feed on unsuspecting humans, fragments of the legendary and feared demon Ryoma Sukuna were lost and scattered about. Should any demon consume Sukuna’s body parts, the power they gain could destroy the world as we know it. Fortunately, there exists a mysterious school of Jujutsu Sorcerers who exist to protect the precarious existence of the living from the supernatural!

Yuji Itadori is high schooler who spends his days visiting his bedridden grandfather. Although he looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object, but little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
