Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Anime Film Announced For Winter

Jujutsu Kaisen anime film was announced after the finale of the TV anime this Friday, March 26, 2021. The film is titled Gekijō-ban Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (Jujutsu Kaisen 0 the Movie). The movie is slated for release this winter in Japan. The film will be animated by MAPPA and distributed by TOHO.

The film is based on Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Tokyo Toritsu Jujutsu Kōtō Senmon Gakkō (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School) manga was released as a 4-part series in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA from April 28, 2017 to July 28, 2017.

The manga is available on VIZ media. VIZ media describes the story as follows –

Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous high school student who is suffering from a serious problem—his childhood friend Rika has turned into a Curse and won’t leave him alone. Since Rika is no ordinary Curse, his plight is noticed by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Jujutsu High, a school where fledgling exorcists learn how to combat Curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, but can he learn enough in time to confront the Curse that haunts him?

TV anime and Manga

Jujutsu Kaisen manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on March 5, 2018. Jujutsu Kaisen anime premiered on October 2, 2020, and the finale episode aired today. The anime is available on Crunchyroll outside Asia in multiple subtitle languages.

Synopsis –

Idly indulging in baseless paranormal activities with the Occult Club, high schooler Yuuji Itadori spends his days at either the clubroom or the hospital, where he visits his bedridden grandfather. However, this leisurely lifestyle soon takes a turn for the strange when he unknowingly encounters a cursed item. Triggering a chain of supernatural occurrences, Yuuji finds himself suddenly thrust into the world of Curses—dreadful beings formed from human malice and negativity—after swallowing the said item, revealed to be a finger belonging to the demon Sukuna Ryoumen, the “King of Curses.”

Yuuji experiences first-hand the threat these Curses pose to society as he discovers his own newfound powers. Introduced to the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School, he begins to walk down a path from which he cannot return—the path of a Jujutsu sorcerer. – MAL
