The Misfit of Demon King Academy manga series has been cancelled due to author’s illness. The announcement came from the official Twitter account for Square Enix’s Manga Up! website on Wednesday. Author Kaya Haruka is undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer.

The manga is adapted from Shu’s The Misfit of Demon King Academy: History’s Strongest Demon King Reincarnates and Goes to School with His Descendants (Maō Gakuin no Futekigōsha ~Shijō Saikyō no Maō no Shiso, Tensei Shite Shison-tachi no Gakkō e Kayō) light novel series.

In a statement posted above, Kaya Haruka mentions that they were aware of the cancer since September 2019. Kaya Haruka remarked that while they regret that the manga had to end in this manner, they will cherish the time they spent working on it.
