On Wednesday, Kadokawa announced that Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Moto Kano Datta (My Stepmother’s Daughter Was My Ex-Girlfriend) light novel’s anime adaptation has been green-lit. No further information was released.
Synopsis
A boy and girl started dating in middle school, flirted with each other, argued on small matters, and got increasingly annoyed with each other…they finally split up after graduating. Irido Mizuto and Ayai Yume, now in high school, happened to encounter each other in the most unexpected way.
They became step-siblings after their parents remarried!! They decided to be considerate of their parents’ sentiments and devised a “sibling rule” in which the first one to recognize the other as a member of the other s*x loses. But…how can they ignore each other when they encounter each other in the bathroom, commute to and from school together, share memories of the past, and live under the same roof?

Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Moto Kano Datta is a step-sibling romcom written by Kyōsuke Kamishiro. The novel began serialization on the online novel website Kakuyomu in August 2017.
Light Novel
A light novel version was released by Kadokawa on in its Kadokawa Shoten’s Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint in December 2018. The light novel series is written by Kyōsuke Kamishiro and illustrated by Takayaki. As of July 30, 2021, 7 volumes have been released.
Manga
Rei Kusakabe adapted My Stepmother’s Daughter Was My Ex-Girlfriend into manga series and published in online via Niconico Seiga website. As of May 8, 2021, 3 volumes have been released.
